It’s another tremendous week in prospect in Scotland with Kelso on Thursday.

The Kelso card promises to be a cracker with Nicky Henderson sending ante-post RSA Chase favourite Champ up to contest the Timeform Novices’ Chase.

Named after Sir Anthony McCoy, the J P McManus raider is set to be ridden by Barry Geraghty on his prep for next month’s Festival.

Nicky won the race in 2014 with Gold Cup hero Long Run and I see Harriet Graham has entered her highly-regarded novice Aye Right.

The most valuable race is the £30,000 Timeform Morebattle Hurdle which has attracted 14 entries, as it reverts back to a limited handicap.

With a BHA mark of 154, Tom Symonds-trained Song For Someone is the highest rated entry but Nicky Henderson’s Fusil Raffles isn’t far behind on 150.

There is also the not-so-small matter of One For Arthur continuing his build-up to the Grand National in the Edinburgh Gin Handicap Chase.

It should be quite a day!

For the first time, Musselburgh is part of the Northern Lights Finals, which this year, will form part of the Go North Weekend. It all starts at the East Lothian venue on Friday 20th March, then Kelso on Saturday 21st and then Carlisle on Sunday 22nd.

The Go North Weekend is three days of racing and behind-the-scenes access and is part of an initiative to boost jump racing in the region led by the BHA and sponsored by the Racing Post.

A total of £400,000 is prize money is on offer across the three participating fixtures with local trainers opening their yards to the public on the morning of each meeting.

It promises to be a tremendous trio of fixtures and you can purchase a ticket for all three days from any of the courses involved.
