Racecourse Association’s Showcase Awards 2019

Scottish Racecourses have been shortlisted in every category of the Racecourse Association’s Showcase Awards for 2019.

Seen as the Oscars amongst British Racecourses, the Showcase & Awards in partnership with Moët Hennessy, Racing Post and Great British Racing celebrate excellence and innovation during the past 12 months. It was a record year in terms of submissions, with 88 being put forward for consideration.
Musselburgh Racecourse lead the way into the tenth RCA Showcase & Awards with four nominations. Following a day of intense deliberation by the six-strong expert panel of judges, Musselburgh were made Finalists in the Best Campaign, Events, Owners’ Experience and Spotlight categories.

Reigning Champions, and this year’s host venue, Hamilton Park have been every bit as hungry for success since winning Showcase’s most prestigious accolade in 2018 and were rewarded with two Finalist nominations from the judges, including in the Operational Excellence category for the business-transformation project to introduce a new hotel to the Hamilton Park brand.

Ayr and Musselburgh go head to head for the Owners’ Experience title, whilst Kelso and Perth are also amongst the finalists for Food & Beverage. Ayr and Perth have also been shortlisted for “Love of the Sport” and “Digital & Social Excellence” respectively.
A new category for 2019, Diversity & Inclusion was introduced to champion racecourse efforts in this vital area. The inaugural Finalists in this category include Scottish Racing, for their work with Alzheimer Scotland in training racecourse staff across Scotland to be “dementia friends”. Scottish Racing, the organisation which promotes the five racecourses in Scotland, is also nominated for the Racing Together Community Award, for their work with local racecourse communities across Scotland.

Delly Innes, Manager of Scottish Racing, said “We are delighted that Scotland is so well represented amongst the best of British Racecourses and are immensely proud that the work our racecourses carry out to enhance the customer experience, and our work with local communities, have been recognised nationally.”

Paul Swain, RCA Brand & Experience Manager, added, “I am thrilled for Scotland’s success across the board as Finalists at the 2019 Showcase & Awards. Competition for these awards continues to grow each year and it was only fitting for our tenth ceremony that we can celebrate a record number of submissions. All eyes now turn to Thursday 14th November at Hamilton Park, the first time the event has been hosted in Scotland, where we will find out the winners.”
