Historic Heart and Golden Town set for another Perth battle

COURSE and distance form is on the table in the Edinburgh Gin Stone Of Destiny Handicap Hurdle at Perth on Saturday, which will see the track welcome its biggest crowd since 2019.

The £20,000 feature race sees Historic Heart and Golden Town clash again after they were first and second over this same 2m trip at the Perth Festival in April when the former prevailed by seven lengths.

Historic Heart is trained in Devon by regular Scone raider Nigel Hawke while Golden Town, a course winner two years ago, hails from the South Lakeland stable of Jimmy Moffatt.

Former champion jockey Brian Hughes gets the leg up on Donald McCain-trained Blakeney Point, who is no slouch on the Flat having ran in the Chester Cup back in the spring.

Printing Dollars looks like the one they all have to beat in the Seaside Edinburgh Gin Handicap Chase (Go North Staying Chase Series Qualifier).

Formerly trained by Warren Greatrex, he changed hands for £26,000 at Doncaster Sales in May and was second in a handicap chase at Perth on his debut for Laura Morgan 18 days ago.

Tickets remain on sale for Saturday’s meeting with capacities across the racecourse increased significantly following the latest relaxing of restrictions.

The first of seven races is at 2.10pm – all live on Racing TV.
