JIM GOLDIE is looking forward to a busy day at Musselburgh on Tuesday when a small number of racegoers will be in attendance at a Scottish fixture for the first time in over fourteen months.

The Uplawmoor trainer saddles four runners at the East Lothian venue including previous course winner Ayr Poet in the Musselburgh Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap over nine-furlongs.

Only Ayr has been the scene of more wins than Musselburgh on the Flat for Goldie since he starting training 27 years ago and he said: “We’ve also had some decent days over jumps at Musselburgh and hopefully that success will continue for a wee while yet.

“Ayr Poet operates at a mile to a mile and a quarter and he was bred by one of the Ayr racecourses owners William Johnstone. It is a pedigree we know well as he is a half brother to Euchen Glen and Sir Chauvelin and he has won over course and distance this year already under a great ride that day by Paul Hanagan.”

Opposition to Ayr Poet includes Keith Dalgleish pair Bringitonboris and Red Bond, first-time Musselburgh visitor Cockalorum and recent narrow Nottingham winner Cruyff Turn.

The other Class 4 event on an eight-race card is the Racing TV Profits Returned To Racing Handicap over 1m 4f in which Iconic Belle bids to extend her winning sequence to six.

Philip Kirby’s prolific mare gained her recent strike in emphatic style by four and a half lengths at Doncaster on May 1st.
