Musselburgh – Preview 24th August 2021

Gordon Brown – Race Reporter

Gordon has a wealth of experience of racing through his background in the written and broadcast media. His current principle role is reporting and supporting the scene in Scotland on Racing TV and relaying the latest news with Scottish angles.

GREENGAGE has already enjoyed a pretty productive year and the mare bids for her sixth win of 2021 in the feature race at Musselburgh on Tuesday.

Trained in Cumbria by Tristan Davidson and ridden by Jason Hart, she faces seven rivals in the Bet At Racing TV.com Handicap over 1m 4f.

Former amateur rider Davidson said: “She’s had an unbelievable year and has done us proud. Mind you, she’s been creeping up the weights as her first win at Newcastle in January came off 64 and she over a stone higher now. Jason knows her well as they’ve won four races together and the trip and ground shouldn’t be a problem either.”

Grant Tuer has won a couple of nice prizes recently at the East Lothian venue with Lion Tower and the Yorkshire handler saddles Emaraty Hero.

Formerly trained by Karl Burke, the gelding joined Tuer after changing hands for 20,000gns at the sales last summer and he makes his first appearance since November over a new trip.

Burke is represented in the opening Ire Incentive Scheme Restricted Maiden Stakes by Rosie’s Return, who tackles seven-furlongs for the first time after showing smart from over shorter on his three runs so far.
