FOUR-TIME course winner Gometra Ginty is on the trail of more Musselburgh success in the Edinburgh Gin Handicap at the East Lothian venue on Saturday.
Trained by Keith Dalgleish and carrying the maroon and white check colours of Ken McGarrity, the front-running mare shoulders joint top-weight of 9st 12lb in the £10,000 event over seven-furlongs.
Jockey Callum Rodriguez, who has won three times on the five-year-old this season, said: “She’s actually won four races this year and she still seems to be improving. We’ve won twice together round Musselburgh, over this trip and a mile, and she has a great attitude to racing.”
The pace should be red-hot as Oso Rapido, trained by Roger Fell, was given a positive ride when scoring over course and distance last month while Mark Johnston’s Fred was an all-the-way winner at Brighton back in the spring.
Roach Power can build on an eycatching second-placed debut at Carlisle in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Novices Stakes.
Tim Easterby’s Yorkshire raider is a half-brother to Art Power, who was third in Group 1 company at Royal Ascot and and fifth after leading for a long way in last weekend’s Betfair Sprint Cup.
