IN-FORM Lucinda Russell is aiming for an upset in the feature race at Kelso on Saturday with Caboy, who is the outsider of the seven runners.

Ridden by Stephen Mulqueen, the Kinross raider receives weight all round in the £20,000 Paxtons’ Borders Direct For Genuine Kverneland Wishing Well Handicap Chase staged over almost 2m 6f.

Mulqueen said: “He’s been taken out a couple of times recently because of the ground but he’s certainly at the right end of the weights for his comeback. Some of his form in France is quite good and he was a decent second at Ayr in January when Blair Campbell rode him.”

At the opposite end of the betting is likely favourite Exit To Where, trained by Iain Jardine, who has been raised 8lbs for a twelve-length romp at Ayr in May.

Also in the line-up is Keith Dalgleish’s seven-time Perth scorer Amalfi Doug, who has never won away from the Scone venue, and Olly Murphy-trained Calipso Collonges, third in Grade 3 company at Aintree in April.

Mister Whitaker, who has appeared at the last four Cheltenham Festivals, runs for just the fifth time over timber in the Racing TV Novices’ Hurdle.

Formerly with Mick Channon, the winner of five chases is now trained by Donald McCain after changing hands for £70,000 at Doncaster Sales in May.
