Musselburgh – Preview 6th February 2022

Gordon Brown – Race Reporter

Gordon has a wealth of experience of racing through his background in the written and broadcast media. His current principle role is reporting and supporting the scene in Scotland on Racing TV and relaying the latest news with Scottish angles.

In the bet365 Triumph Hurdle, Nicky Henderson saddles Impulsive One in the double-green colours of Simon Munir and Issac Souede with Ruth Jefferson’s impressive course and distance winner Inca Prince also in the line-up.

The form of last year’s Bet365 Scottish Supreme Novices’ Hurdle is red-hot and this looks another quality renewal.

Donald McCain-trained and borders-owned Since Day One is unbeaten in three starts over hurdles with a aggregate winning distance off nearly 24-lengths while Olly Murphy fancies the chances of his Midlands raider Restandbethankful.

The bet365 Scottish Champion Chase was bagged two years ago by Greaneteen – a dual Grade 1 winner in 2021 –  and a wide-open renewal sees the country’s leading jockey Brian Hughes booked for the ride on top-weight Fanzio, trained near Cheltenham by Richard Hobson.
