Trailblazing Kilmore Rock, ridden by Nathan Moscrop, bids to keep up his good form since joining Susan Corbett in the feature race at Kelso.
The front-running Northumberland raider pops over the border from Otterburn to contest the £12,000 K.O.S.B. Handicap Hurdle over nearly 2m 7f.
“He was a point to pointer, in Ireland and England, before he came to us last year so a big thanks goes to Joe Wright, who sold him to us after he was second at our local point to point,” Corbett said. “He won his maiden hurdle at Hexham last summer and then we put him away – he’s done really well since coming back with those two handicap wins at Newcastle and Carlisle and Nathan gets on brilliantly with him.”
Six-year-old Kilmore Rock certainly ticks a statistic box in a race that has been been won by horses of his age in five of the last seven renewals.
Mark Walford is double-handed with Ashington and recent course winner Magic Wave while Lucinda Russell and Patrick Wadge, successful twelve months go with Idem, team up for a repeat with April’s Kelso scorer Dollar Collar.
Moscrop will also fancy his chance aboard Rebecca Menzies-trained Show No Fear in the Bedmax Handicap Hurdle.
Also a winner on Newcastle Tapeta surface in February, Show No Fear has been raised 4lbs for his breakthrough success over hurdles at Carlisle in a month ago.
