Gordon Brown – Race Reporter

Gordon has a wealth of experience of racing through his background in the written and broadcast media. His current principle role is reporting and supporting the scene in Scotland on Racing TV and relaying the latest news with Scottish angles.

Micky Hammond was in great form at Kelso where Jericoacoara and Singapore Trip supplied him with a 15/1 double.

The former, ridden by Josh Thompson, landed the Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap Hurdle before the latter continued his good run of form for Alice Stevens in the Bedmax Handicap Chase.

“Jericoacoara was bought from France from the same source that has given us a few good horses,” Hammond said. “He will probably have a break now and then come back to go over fences again.”

Stevens was all smiles after her first Kelso winner on Singapore Trip and she said: “He has found a new level of form since going over fences and he has been brilliant for me. He stays further than this but it helped that the race was run at such a good gallop.”

Judge Nick Hargreave called a dead-heat when he couldn’t separate Thoneylands (Nicky Richards) and Maillot Blanc (Nick Alexander) in the second division of the 2000 Sacks Of Carrots Handicap Hurdle.

Richards had earlier also initiated a double when Abbey Scope and Danny McMenamin took division one in cosy fashion by four-lengths.

Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore struck with Walk On Quest in the Racing TV Profits Returned To Racing Handicap Chase.
