Gordon Brown – Race Reporter

Gordon has a wealth of experience of racing through his background in the written and broadcast media. His current principle role is reporting and supporting the scene in Scotland on Racing TV and relaying the latest news with Scottish angles.

JIM GOLDIE made history at Wolverhampton on Saturday night when Krissy supplied him with his 100th Flat winner of a memorable year.

His total – comprising 68 on turf and 32 on the all-weather – beats the previous Scottish record of 93 set by now-retired Keith Dalgleish in 2021.

Dalgleish actually saddled 104 winners that calender year but eleven off his tally came over jumps while Uplawmoor-based Goldie hasn’t had a national hunt success since Pammi scored at Perth in September 2023.

The highlight of Goldie’s fantastic Flat campaign saw him scoop Royal Ascot glory with American Affair in the King Charles 111 Stakes, also a first success Group 1 strike by a Scottish-based trainer since the modern-day Pattern was introduced.

Meanwhile at Kelso Super Citizen bids to follow up his Carlisle strike in the AJA Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Chase.

Trained by permit-holder Lucinda Hughes, he was ridden to a two-length victory by her husband, three-time champion jockey Brian Hughes, 29-days ago.

This time, off a 5lb higher mark, the Cleveland raider is partnered by Paddy Barlow in a race packed with some of top amateur riders in the country.

Baratablet also arrives at the borders track in great form after his comfortable victory at Newcastle in the familiar colours of Jimmy Fyffe.

He has been raised 7lbs for that success and looks the one to beat in the Chas Handicap Hurdle for Nicky Richards and Danny McMenamin.
