Gordon Brown – Race Reporter

Gordon has a wealth of experience of racing through his background in the written and broadcast media. His current principle role is reporting and supporting the scene in Scotland on Racing TV and relaying the latest news with Scottish angles.

Mike Smith is looking forward to running Euchan Falls on Saturday at Kelso, which is the middle day of the Racing Post Go North Racing Festival.

Having won his last two starts at Musselburgh and Ayr, the Ayrshire raider is being targeted at the £30,000 Betvictor Go North Cab On Target Handicap Hurdle (Series Final).

“He’s clearly been in very good form so I thought why not have a crack at this as the prize money is great,” Smith said. “It’s sure to be a competitive race but that’s what this seres is all about.”

The opposition to Euchan Falls includes super-consistent Les’s Legacy, trained near Otterburn by Susan Corbett, and January Sedgefield winner Socks Off representing Rebecca Menzies.

In-form Nicky Richards runs recent Ayr scorer Coniston George in the £30,000 Betvictor Go North Jodami Series Final Open National Hunt Flat Race in which narrow Carlisle runner-up Bertie’s Ballet represents fellow Cumbrian trainer Dianne Sayer.

The most valuable race on the card is the £50,000 Betvictor Herring Queen Series Final Mares’ Novices’ Handicap Hurdle with local interest focussing around Midnight Shuffle for Selkirk handler Stuart Coltherd.
