THE famous royal blue colours of Godolphin are set to be carried by Ghaly in the feature race at Hamilton Park on Tuesday.

Trained in Newmarket by Saeed Bin Suroor, the well-bred Dubawi gelding is one of ten declarations for the £30,000 Stay At Hampton By Hilton Almada Mile Handicap.

Ghaly bids to defy a 662-day absence as he hasn’t raced since finishing second at Thirsk in early September, 2020 and he is the only runner on the card for his trainer, who has won with six of his previous 26 raiders at the Lanarkshire venue.

Also in the line-up is Sip And Smile, one six mounts for William Buick as he returns to the scene of a treble just a  month ago.

Also trained in Newmarket, his trainer George Boughey has four representatives on the card as he tries to maintain an impressive strike-rate as his previous three runners have all been victorious.

The afternoon opens with the Maiden Stakes in which 80,000gns yearling attempts to go one better after finishing second on both runs so far for his Yorkshire handler Kevin Ryan.
