OWNER Jimmy Long has his eye on the £100,000 Phoenix Utilities Ltd Lanark Silver Bell at Hamilton Park on Friday night with Wickywickywheels.
The Jim Goldie-trained filly, already a four-time winner at the Lanarkshire, is among a maximum field of 15 runners for the 1m 4f feature race.
Long said: “We know she loves the place and this has been the target since her last win in late July. She’s a home-bred filly that we think has a very bright future and she should be even better with that little bit of cut in the ground.”
Rivals to Wickywickywheels include top-weight Pride Of Priory, whose trainer William Haggis has won the race twice before. The likely favourite, he is on a four-timer following wins at Kempton, Newcastle and Ascot.
Roger Varian-trained Strawberri, another Newmarket raider, arrives off the back of an impressive strike at Kempton three weeks ago.
Goldie also saddles course and distance winner Sir Chauvelin, while there is other Scottish interest in Iain Jardine’s Haveyoumissedme, Mike Smith-trained Tilsitt and Ewan Whillans, trained by Ewan Whillans.
Haggas won the Euan Anderson Of Elwood Projects Memorial EBF Fillies’ Handicap last year and he is represented by Canterbury Bell, who has won two of her thee race this term and is equipped with blinkers for the first time.
