Spring is Sprung bids to scoop a £100,000 bonus on the richest card of the season at Hamilton Park.
The prize is up for grabs for first horse to land three races throughout the Sky Bet Sunday Series and Paul Midgley’s speedster has already scored at Newmarket and Chelmsford.
Archie Young is in the saddle for the five-furlong handicap and the Hawick apprentice’s allowance could be crucial as his partner has been raised 9lb since his winning spree began.
The £215,550 fixture is mighty competitive and Jim Goldie’s Penelope’s Sister is also chasing a huge pot in the fillies’ handicap.
“She’s ridden by our apprentice Lauren Young and they won nicely at Ayr last time, which was great as she’s owned by the Ayr Racecourse Syndicate,” said Goldie, who landed the six-figure bonus last year with Letsbefrank.
“Lauren is from Kilmarnock so she was delighted to have a winner at her local track. Penelope’s Sister is in a deeper race and has gone up a few pounds but you’ve got to roll the dice when there’s good money on offer.”
Rowan Scott, also from Hawick, partners recent course and distance winner for his boss Nigel Tinkler in the six-furlong handicap.
Tinkler said: “We’re going into the race in good form and he battled on bravely last time. Rowan gets on well with him and has ridden him every time he has run so far.”
Golspie could be well treated under a 5lb penalty, incurred for a cosy Pontefract victory, in the 1m 3f handicap.
And the card gets underway with Vincenzo Peruggia making his debut in the Amo Racing colours in the novice stakes.
Charlie Johnston’s well-bred bred colt cost 555,000gns as a yearling so he will be fancied to go in at a the first time of asking.
