IN-FORM Jim Goldie has his eye on the feature race at Hamilton Park on Thursday with Ayr Poet.

The Uplawmoor raider, who has won twice, been second twice and fourth once in his five previous visits to the Lanarkshire track, receives all round under Jamie Gormley in the Welcome To RacingTV Club Members Handicap over 1m 1f.

Bred by joint-Ayr racecourse owner William Johnstone, he is a half-brother to Scottish horse-the-moment Euchen Glen and Sir Chauvelin, a dual winner of the Braveheart Handicap at Hamilton Park.

Goldie said: “This seems to be about his trip as he has won over 1m 2f at Ayr, and three times at 1m 1f including twice over course and distance last autumn. Good ground or even a wee bit of cut suits him fine and Paul Hanagan showed whey he was a champion jockey when giving him a great ride to win at Musselburgh in April.”

Ayr Poet’s rivals include Where’s Jeff, who also knows the location of the Hamilton Park winning post as he gained his second track strike under Jo Mason off a 7lb lower mark in May.

Keith Dalgleish-trained Misty Ayr returns to much calmer waters in the opening British Stallions Studs EBF Novices Stakes.

The Kodi Bear filly was only overhauled close home in a Listed event at Tipperary last time and was a far-from-disgraced ninth when an 80/1 chance in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot.
