Hamilton Park – Preview 14th May 2021

JIM GOLDIE bids to extend his recent domination of the Palmaris Services Braveheart Handicap at Hamilton Park on Friday night.

The Renfrewshire trainer, who has landed three of the last four renewals of the £25,000 event staged over 1m 4f, is represented this time by Nicholas T.

Uplawmoor-based Goldie said: “He ran okay over slightly further at the track last Sunday and I’m hoping for a big run. A lot of his wins have come at Ayr but he’s gone close at Hamilton before and was just beaten on similar ground a couple of summers ago.”

Renewing rivalry with Nicholas T from that Buttonhook Handicap encounter are Mark Johnston pair The Trader and Notation, who were first and fourth along with fifth-paced Alright Sunshine, trained by Keith Dalgleish.

Notation, one of seven declared runners, is partnered by Joe Fanning who teamed up with Johnston to win the 2018 Braveheart Stakes with Rainbow Rebel.

The likely favourite is First Impression, who will be making his debut at Hamilton Park and is trained in Malton by John Quinn. He was fit from a hurdling campaign when finishing a close third at Chester last week.

In-form Pearl Of Qatar looks the one to beat in the Palmaris Hire Services William Wallace Handicap over six-furlongs. Trained in Cumbria by Tristan Davidson, the mare is on a hat-trick following strikes at Ayr and over course and distance twelve days ago.
