KAYLEIGH WILLIAMS has her first ride in public on Jim Goldie-trained Doon The Glen in the hamilton-park.co.uk
The 32-year-old is the daughter of Hamilton Park clerk of the course Carol Bartley, a three-time champion during her successful career as an unpaid rider.
“Kayleigh has been in and out of racing most of her adult life and for the last two years she has been with Jim,” Bartley said. “She’s very keen to get involved a bit more and has clearly been bitten by the racing bug, just like her mother!”
Goldie also saddles Summerstorms Dream, partnered by vastly-experienced Eireann Cagney while Amy Collier, who won the Ladies Derby at Ripon last summer, rides Mister Blue Sky for Gemma Tutty.
Iris Dancer bids to land the modern-day record for most wins at the track outright in the Indigo Unified Comms Handicap.
Locally-owned but trained in Cumbria, she currently stands on nine-wins at the South Lanarkshire venue alongside Jordan Electrics.
“We were disappointed with her run at the track last week,” trainer Tristan Davidson said. “She’s had a few runs but that was her first visit of the year to Hamilton and we expected better to be honest.
“We scoped her and that was clean with no mucus showing so we’ve done some blood tests as well just to be sure. Hopefully they will all be fine too but we wont know for sure until the morning.”
