JIM CLOSES IN ON RECORD.

The Jim Goldie bandwagon rolls on to Ayr Racecourse tonight (Thursday) for the Tennent’s Racenight where the Uplawmoor trainer has six runners as he closes in on his best ever year numbers wise.

In 2014 Jim saddled 46 winners his highest total to date but now sits on the 39 winner mark after a magic July saw him in the Winners Enclosure no fewer than 15 times.

He has several realistic chances at Ayr tonight including in the last race, the Absolut Maiden Handicap over 1m 2f, with bottom weight Sophiesticate. This three year-old has been second on her last two starts and could go one better tonight with Paul Mulrennan riding.

Mike Smith has been waiting for some cut in the ground for his talented gelding  Black Friday and he should get it tonight and the seven year-old looks the one to beat in the feature race, the Tennent’s Lager Handicap over seven furlongs at 6.53pm. Also in this race Iain Jardine saddles Jump The Gun, the mount of Paul Mulrennan and this five year-old could also run a big race.

Although better known for her exploits as a jumps trainer Lucinda Russell has saddled six winners on the Flat this year and Flylikeaneagle has provided three of those wins and could make it four in the Havana Club Handicap with Oisin Orr riding.
