Ayr – Preview 30th September 2025

Gordon Brown – Race Reporter Gordon has a wealth of experience of racing through his background in the written and broadcast media. His current principle role is reporting and supporting the scene in Scotland on Racing TV and relaying the latest news with Scottish angles.

Redarna is aiming for his tenth course win in the Autumn Breaks At Western House Hotel Handicap, a race he landed twelve months ago by a neck from one of today’s rivals.

As well as his multiple successes at Ayr, at an impressive strike-rate of 53 per-cent, Dianne Sayer’s evergreen eleven-year-old has recorded eight victories elsewhere.

“He’s in great heart and all his wins have come at around a mile or seven-furlongs,” Sayer said. “We’ll have a look if there is anything for him at Ayr’s last Flat meeting next month but at the moment I’d say you will still see him racing again next year.”

Redarna is currently two winners behind Mike Smith’s modern-day record-holder Glasses Up, who enjoyed a spring hat-trick at the Craigie course back in the spring.

Jim Goldie is certain to crowned champion Flat trainer at Ayr again with a remarkable 25 winners under his belt already in 2025 and he has several chances to add to that tally.

The Uplawmoor maestro could hold the key to the opening Christmas Party Day Dancing @Ayr Racecourse Apprentice Handicap as he is triple-handed with Ayr Poet, Dwindling Funds and Penelope’s Sister, who has posted three course and distance wins this term already for the Ayr Racecourse Club.
