Dianne Sayer-trained veteran Redarna bids to claim outright second place in the all-time winning-most horse roll-of-honour board at Ayr.

The Cumbrian raider is currently tied on eight wins alongside Jim Goldie’s now-retired Tommy G and Goninodaethat with Mike Smith’s Glasses Up well ahead on eleven victories.

Redarna lines up in the Tennent’s Lager Handicap over seven-furlongs while Glasses Up tackles the ten-furlong Outcider Handicap 65-minutes later on in the seven-race card.

“There’s no doubt he loves Ayr, and all bar one of his course wins have come over this trip, but he’s also won elsewhere including four times at Carlisle,” Sayer said of her evergreen eleven-year-old. “It was also a great occasion when he won the ladies race for my daughter Emma on King George day at Ascot six years ago.”

Glasses Up, a sprightly ten-year-old, has gained nine of his course wins over this trip and he is a three-time Ayr scorer already this campaign after completing a spring hat-track at his local venue.

Alice Haynes has enjoyed Ayr success with some useful juveniles in the past and the Newmarket trainer saddles an interesting newcomer in the shape of Shouldbeanothering in the opening Stella EBF Maiden Stakes.

A €150,000 breeze-up purchase, he faces four-rivals including fellow debutant Napolian, who cost €190,000 as a yearling for the David O’Meara stable.
