EUCHEN GLEN, partnered by regular jockey Paul Mulrennan, bids to concede weight all round in the feature race at Ayr on the opening day of the Virgin Bet Gold Cup festival.

Owned and bred by locally-based William Johnstone, the evergreen ten-year-old shoulders 10st in the £30,000 Virgin Bet Best Odds Daily Kilkerran Handicap over 1m 2f.

Trained by Jim Goldie, ‘Big Alan’ has won twelve races and amassed over £558,000 with the pick of his victories coming in three strikes in Group 3 company.

Rivals to Euchen Glen include Rebecca Menzies-trained Painters Palette, an impressive winner at Wolverhampton a fortnight ago and Auld Toon Loon, ridden by last year’s Ayr Gold Cup-winning jockey Danny Tudhope.

The eight-race card gets under any with the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes in which Individualism catches the eye.

Trained by Charlie Johnston, he is a half brother to Ascot Gold Cup hero Subjectivist and returns to the scene of his encouraging debut over course and distance in the summer.
