FIA FUINIDH bids to follow up his recent impressive course and distance success in the weatherbysshop.co.uk Novices’ Handicap Hurdle at Ayr on Wednesday.

“He can a little bit keen so we just let him get on with it,” said the Cumbria-based trainer. “He has 12st 2lb on his back this time but he is in good order and will hopefully go well again.”

Two Scottish-trained runners could provide the main threat to Fia Fuinidh, who is likely to be sent off favourite – Brian Hughes-ridden Thistle Ask for Langholm’s James Ewart and One Mill Harbour, trained by Lucinda Russell.

Gold Cup Bailly, trained near Larne in Northern Ireland by Stuart Crawford, bids for an Ayr hat-trick in the Weatherbys nhstallions.co.uk Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase.

His regular jockey Daryl Jacob said: “He showed us last time that he stays this three-mile trip but his jumping is his main asset. He’s very slick over his fences and basically an uncomplicated horse to ride – Stuart has done a great job with him.”
