Ayr – Preview 1st December 2025

Gordon Brown – Race Reporter Gordon has a wealth of experience of racing through his background in the written and broadcast media. His current principle role is reporting and supporting the scene in Scotland on Racing TV and relaying the latest news with Scottish angles.

Nicky Richards is looking forward to seeing his highly-regarded course winner Upon Tweed attempting to defy a penalty in the Western House Hotel Vouchers For Christmas Novices’  Hurdle.

Carrying the colours of long-time Eddie Melville, he scored comfortably by eight and a half lengths over course and distance 30-days ago.

“We were delighted with that first run and Eddie has been a great supporter of us here at Greystoke for many years,” Richards said. “You could say this is his next step in his education and he’s a lovely young horse. As he gains experience we might look at moving up the ladder a little for something better but this looks another nice opportunity.”

Take A Hike, who landed a touch for connections at Kelso recently, bids for a follow-up success in the Book New Years Day Lunch @WesternHouseHotel Handicap Hurdle.

Trained by D J Jeffreys, he enjoyed his hurdling breakthrough at the borders venue in the old family colours of Northumberland owner Ronald Barber.
