Musselburgh- Report 29th July 2022

Gordon Brown – Race Reporter

Gordon has a wealth of experience of racing through his background in the written and broadcast media. His current principle role is reporting and supporting the scene in Scotland on Racing TV and relaying the latest news with Scottish angles.

Pippa Brown rode her first winner under Rules on Point Of Honour in the Join Racing TV Now Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap at Musselburgh on Friday night.

The 19-year-old said: “The closest I’d come before tonight was when I was third on this horse at Catterick a couple of weeks ago. It wasn’t the plan to lead like that but he’s held on gamely in the end.

“I’ve ridden a point to point winner and that came in Scotland as well! We train a few pointers and my main job is riding out for Kevin Ryan.”

Ben Robinson was full of praise for Mereside Diva after the filly landed the Irish Stallions Farms EBF Restricted Novice Stakes.

The in-form jockey, who rode a four-timer at Newcastle last Saturday, said: “She’s learning all the time and should stay a little further. I reined her back at half-way and that got us on the backfoot a little bit but she’s come home strongly.”
