Jim Goldie and Paul Mulrennan teamed up to land the Musselburgh Windsor FC Celebrating 70 Years Handicap with Yaaser.

“He was down to a good mark but I was a bit scared as it wasn’t a mad pace early,” said the winning jockey. “He didn’t do a lot once he hit the front so hopefully he can continue to do well.”

Odd Venture, now trained by Micky Hammond, scored for the first time since coming from Ireland in the Support Musselburgh Athletic FC Classified Stakes.

A well-backed 5-1 chance, he saw off off 9-4 favourite Spirit Of Ash by a length in the hands of Aiden Brookes.

“He straightforward enough although he can be a bit eager if he doesn’t get cover,” said the winning rider. “We thought he was a little overrated when he first arrived but he’s improved with every run.”

Capital Guarantee was given a fine front-running ride by Danny Tudhope on his way to a cosy victory in the British Stallion Studs EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes.

Appearing for the first time since being gelded and making his debut for the David O’Meara stable, the 11-10 favourite had no trouble taking care of Elusive Empire by a length and a half.

Shouldering joint top-weight of 9st 9lb, Karl Burke-trained Indication Spirit dug deep under Clifford Lee to beat Travel Candy in the Celebrating Musselburgh Festival 2023 Nursery Handicap.
