Musselburgh – Report 15th May 2023

Gordon Brown – Race Reporter

Gordon has a wealth of experience of racing through his background in the written and broadcast media. His current principle role is reporting and supporting the scene in Scotland on Racing TV and relaying the latest news with Scottish angles.

SAM JAMES was in great form at Musselburgh on Monday as he booted home a treble courtesy of Cuban Slide, Bicep and Forgetmenotblue.

The former, trained by Karl Burke, impressed when storming home by nine-lengths from stable companion making Dreams in the opening British EBF Novice Stakes.

“He wasn’t doing anything at home that suggested he would win like that,” James said. “He might stay further but he’s got plenty of speed so he’s certainly an interesting prospect for the future.”

Jim Goldie kept his good run going when B Associates took the Musselburgh Supporting Racing Welfare #mentalhealthawarenessweek Handicap in the hands of Paul Mulrennan.

Keith Dalgleish struck with Billy Garritty-ridden Breguet Boy in the first division of the Bet At racingtv.com Handicap.

Garritty said: “He had a spell with Michael Attwater so it’s great that he is back with Keith now. He’s a popular horse and I’ve actually won over hurdles on him.”

Thirty minutes earlier, Lanarkshire-born Paula Muir made all on Wilf Storey-trained Perfect Soldier in the first division.
