IAIN JARDINE and Andrew Mullen stole the show at Musselburgh on Monday when they combined for a stunning 242-1 treble as the curtain came down on the 2021 Scottish Flat racing season.
The pair kicked off with The Gloaming in the opener and that success was quickly followed by Kats Bob and Never Dark in the Class 5 seven-furlong handicap and Class 4 five-furlong handicap respectively.
Mullen, who was born just along the road at Tranent, said: “The ground was the key with The Gloaming as she is a filly who loves to get her toe in. Kats Bob has been tricky at home but he is gradually starting to grow up and focus on his racing which he has done again today.”
The £20,000 Racing TV Bass Rock Handicap went to Zip and Richard Fahey’s gelding, sent off 4-1 joint-favourite survived a lengthy Stewards Inquiry after which winning jockey Billy Garritty received a three-day careless riding suspension.
Garritty said: “The best horse won and Mr Fahey has done a great job with him. They went a decent clip and we were always in a nice position. I’d say he should continue to do well and seven-furlongs seems to be his trip.”
