Hamilton Park – Report 3rd June 2021

By Gordon Brown

JASON HART was one of three jockeys in double form at Hamilton Park on Thursday when he was successful aboard Lampang and My Wagyu at combined odds of 68-1.

The Hawick-born pilot made most on the former in the featured Hampton By Hilton Hamilton Park Clyde Handicap to spring a 16-1 upset in one of six races on the straight course at the Lanarkshire venue.

After his Tim Easterby-trained mount pipped Rathbone by a neck, he said: “I’ve only ridden him once before and I nearly fell off him when he stumbled badly at the start at Southwell! I know his trainer thought a lot of him as a two-year-old and I’d say he should get seven-furlongs the way he has stuck on gamely up the hill.”

Ben Curtis and Callum Rodriguez were also in double from with the latter scoring on Keith Dalgleish-trained pair Feldspar and Ventura Flame.

Feldspar led all the way in the 1m 5f Stay At Hampton By Hilton Hamilton Park Handicap and Rodriguez said: “We had to work hard to get to the front and then I gave him a breather at the top end of the loop. I tried to fill his lungs coming down the hill and then kicked again meeting the rising ground. He’s done it well in the end and the ups and downs and twists and turns seemed to suit him down to the ground.”
