AL HUSN gave Roger Varian a third win in the Tennent’s Lager British Stallion Studs EBF Rothesay Stakes at Ayr on Wednesday.

Ridden by Jim Crowley, the 5-6 favourite saw off Angels Wrath by half a length in the £47,000 Listed contest.

“She’s in great form and still improving,” said the jockey before rushing off to catch his flight back south. “She gave me a great feel and it was a great run last time in a Group 2 at Newmarket.

“She’s also handled the quicker ground today so she’s a pretty versatile filly. I’d say ten furlongs is her trip or a mile if it was soft enough.”

Jim Goldie’s Global Humor, from 12lbs below his previous winning mark, gained his first success of the season with a last-gasp victory under Paul Mulrennan in the Dead Man’s Finger Handicap over five-furlongs.

Hollie Doyle completed a double on Archie Watson trained pair Army Ethos and Mountbatten with the former impressing on debut in the opening two-year-old contest.
