SCOTTISH NATIONAL runner-up Dingo Dollar returns to action at Kelso on Saturday when he bids to coincide weight all round in the £40,000 Edinburgh Gin Handicap Chase.

Ridden by Ryan Mania and trained just a few miles from the track by Sandy Thomson, he made a lot of the running before his gallant second behind Mighty Thunder at Ayr back in April.

Thomson said: “It was a huge run in the Scottish National and he produced a tremendous race and went agonisingly close. It’s was quite a day as our other horse, The Ferry Master, finished fourth. We felt that this is a good starting point for Dingo Dollar and it’s our local course too.”

In a race in which the favourite has been successful for five of the last six years, Fortescue is likely to be one of the market principals.

On a hat-trick following wins at Sandown and Perth in the spring, he is only the fourth runner at Kelso for Henry Daly as the Shropshire trainer bids for his first winner at the borders venue.

Lucinda Russell, who landed the 2016 renewal with subsequent Grand National hero One For Arthur, is represented by Big River while last season’s Cheltenham Festival winner Vintage Clouds would be a popular scorer as he carries the colours of recently deceased owner Trevor Hemmings.
