MARK JOHNSTON is double-handed as he bids for another victory in the £33,500 Phoenix Utilities Ltd Lanark Silver Bell Handicap at Hamilton Park on Friday night.

The Middleham trainer, who is represented by Love Is Golden and Big Kitten, enjoyed a purple patch when scooping the historic race four times between 2011 and 2015.

Locally-based Keith Dalgleish has also two runners to saddle in the shape of in-form pair Platinumcard and Euro Implosion.

The duo have already won four races apiece in 2021 and the former recently completed a hat-trick which was achieved in just over three weeks.

Likely to be sent off hot favourite is the three-year-old Mahrajaan, who tackles handicap company for the first time after back-to-back novice stakes wins at Leicester and Ripon.

The well-bred gelding is trained in Newmarket by William Haggis, a handler with four winners from his last eleven runners at the Lanarkshire track.

Expensive breeze-up purchase Thunder Legend boasts the best form on offer in the Whysettle It Networks Maiden Stakes, which is staged over the extended mile.

Another trained in Newmarket, this time by Hugo Palmer, the colt cost 125,000gns earlier this year and was sent off favourite when a close third at Beverley 16-days ago.
