We just might have seen another potential star winning the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Glasgow Stakes at Hamilton Park the other day.

Previous victors of the Listed event include subsequent Group 1 winners Postponed and Defoe and this year’s all-the-way winner Subjectivist crept into reckoning for the St Leger after giving trainer Mark Johnston a record-equalling sixth strike in the race.

The colt, a half-brother to last year’s Leger runner-up Sir Ron Priestley – also trained by Mark, is due to continue his build up to the world’s oldest Classic at Goodwood and we will follow his career with interest.

It’s great to see massive entries for the first Perth meeting of the year and Tuesday’s opening action of 2020 could see a bumper ten-race card at the Scone venue.

It will be the first real chance since the resumption of racing for a lot of Scottish and northern connections to get a slice of jumps action and they should be rewarded by lovely ground.

Few horses enjoy the delights of Perth more than Amalfi Doug and he is being aimed at the 2m 4f Scottish Tourism Alliance Handicap Hurdle.

Trained by Keith Dalgleish, he has won four of his six course starts and has given owners The County Set plenty of happy memories.

As has been the case recently at Ayr, Hamilton Park and Musselburgh, a certain number of owners will be permitted at Perth where a special section close to the parade ring has been created for them.

The meeting is, of course, behind closed doors with all the normal Covid-19 protocol and social distancing practices in place.

Ayr have announced a new sponsor in Edinburgh based CHB Medical one of the world’s biggest suppliers of Certified PPE.

The July 20 fixture at Scotland’s premier track is now be named the CHB Medical #keepingscotlandsafe race day with all races also named after the medical supplies giant.

CHB Medical has already very strong links with the racing industry having teamed up with the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) to create a Back To Racing pack, including face masks, gloves, coveralls, hand sanitiser, infrared thermometers, visors and goggles. The company also supplies racecourses, racehorse owners as well as trainers’ yards.

CHB underlined their reputation as one of the foremost PPE suppliers when sending reusable masks and sports masks to over 530 racecourses and trainers’ yards in a matter of days.

Ayr managing director David Brown, said: “We are delighted to welcome CHB Medical as our newest sponsor. It is very fitting that one of the world’s biggest supplier of PPE and a company who have played an integral role in the return of racing since lockdown have chosen to support one of our summer race days.

“Their products are seen on every racecourse and without them we simply couldn’t stage race meetings as we slowly work our way out of lockdown.”

Felicity Griffiths, CEO of CHB Medical added: We are very excited to be able to add further support to a Sporting Industry that we have enjoyed partaking in for many years. Ayr racecourse is one of Scotland’s best sporting venues and has a loyal following nationwide, we are delighted to sponsor the July fixture and are looking forward to going racing at Ayr once it is safe to do so “
