Go Direct To The Jobs Section The Scottish Racing Academy Successful candidates, may progress to take the Apprenticeship course (NVQ2) in racehorse care and key training skills, at the Northern Racing College based in Doncaster. The Apprenticeship course takes 12 months to complete, before students decide whether to carry on and complete the Advanced Apprenticeship course (NVQ3). Tel. 01302 861000 www.northernracingcollege.co.uk Graduate Training Schemes The BHB Graduate Development Programme is organised by the British Horseracing Board. The scheme is predominately for students who have just completed their degrees, although recent graduates and sandwich year students may also be considered. The course consists of a two month paid placement with a racing organisation (such as the BHB, a racecourse, the Press Association, a bookmaker or a stud) followed by a two week residential course in Newmarket. The scheme affords enthusiastic students, of an excellent academic standard, a useful leg up into the world of horseracing. Many previous graduates of the scheme now hold influential positions within the industry. Living and learning in Kentucky, Newmarket, Dubai, County Kildare and Hunter Valley in Australia, students will learn from the worlds leading professionals. A two week induction period is followed by three eight-week placements, across of different sectors of Ladbrokes' worldwide business. The ultimate aim is to get jockeys to recognise and fulfil their potential by helping them to develop a lifelong career plan.
