Each of the racecourses in Scotland offers a wide range of catering on racedays. However, we know that if you are visiting us for any length of time, you'll need to eat somewhere else too!
Click on the racecourse links below to find a list of places to go for something to eat or drink after the races are over:

Run by a husband and wife team, Braidwood's is not a big restaurant, but it does have a Michelin Star.
You'll find it about 20 minutes North of Ayr Racecourse in Dalry. A three course meal will set you back just £33 per person.

| Loch Fyne Oyster Bar |
Cairndow
Loch Fyne
Argyll

Okay, so Loch Fyne isn't very near any racecourses, but it is well worth a visit. Treat yourself to a 3-day tour of the West Coast between the Scottish National at Ayr and the Perth Festival in April - and spend a day here.
The oyster bar started out as a shed beside the road, selling succulent oysters from the Loch. Now there is a glass fronted restaurant, seafood shop and a wonderful view.
The Oyster Bar has become so popular that April is probably a better time to visit than later in the summer. |
| Martin Wishart |
54 The Shore
Leith
Edinburgh
EH6 6RA
Tel: 0131 553 3557

Very very fancy food on square plates. Leith has an increasingly high reputation for fine dining and Martin Wishart's has already achieved a Michelin Star.
Prices start from just over £20 for a set three course lunch, althoug it mey be more fun to try the six-course taster menus at £60+. |
| The Plumed Horse |
The Plumed Horse restaurant
Crossmichael
Castle Douglas
Dumfries & Galloway
Tel: 01556 670333
www.plumedhorse.co.uk |
It may seem strange to recommend a restaurant which is just about to close, but the business is moving to Leith in September.
The last evening is Ayr Gold Cup day - so if you are looking for somewhere to stop off on your way up, this is just the place. The restaurant has a Michelin Star, so it is best to book in advance. |
| Rhubarb |
Priestfield Road
Edinburgh
EH16 5UT
Tel: 0131 2257800
www.prestonfield.com
reservations@prestonfield.com |
Rhubarb is the fine-dining restaurant of the exceptionally luxurious Prestonfield House Hotel.
In fact you can have lunch here for just £16, so the price insn't necessarily prohibitive, although be prepared to lay out significantly more for the a la carte menu with wines.
We recommend the Assiette of Rhubarb's Rhubarb Desserts for pudding! |
